Contract obligations should not live in memory.

Contracts arrive by email, renewal dates live in someone’s calendar, and obligations are rediscovered at the worst moment. The Legal Operations Assistant organises intake, extraction and reminders — without ever implying legal advice.

The role

Order around legal work. Judgement left to legal people.

The Legal Operations Assistant exists because most legal operations pain is administrative: intake scattered, dates untracked, records hard to find. It classifies documents against an approved taxonomy, extracts dates and clauses, and keeps obligations visible.

It is explicit about its limit: nothing it produces is legal advice. Review, interpretation and acceptance of any contract belong to counsel or the responsible owner, and privileged material is handled under its own rules.

  • Capture and classify contract and legal requests
  • Extract key dates, parties and clauses for review
  • Track obligations, renewals and reminders
  • Retain approved records with their review trail

Contracts and legal requests enter one intake with their source and requester recorded.

    Classify and extract

The Legal Operations Assistant classifies the document and extracts dates, parties and clauses for review.

    Extraction, not interpretation
  3. 03 Human

    Review and accept

Counsel or the responsible owner reviews the extraction, corrects it and accepts the record.

    Judgement stays human
  4. 04 System

    Track the obligations

Renewals, deadlines and obligations get reminders and owners; the record stays linked to its source.

    Nothing forgotten
Boundaries

It organises legal work. It never practises it.

Within its role

  • Capture and classify contracts and legal requests
  • Extract dates, parties and clauses for human review
  • Track obligations, renewals and reminders
  • Retain approved records with their review trail

Always with people

  • Give legal advice or imply that anything it produces is advice
  • Accept, reject or substantively assess a contract
  • Hold signature authority or make commitments
  • Handle privileged material outside its configured rules
